The Art Spirit Gallery debuts “No Permission Needed” — An AI-Generated Art Exhibition by Mike Baker

Coeur d’Alene, ID — November 14, 2024 — The Art Spirit Gallery is proud to announce the opening of a groundbreaking new exhibit, “No Permission Needed,” featuring AI-created artwork by renowned artist and CEO of Heritage Health, Mike Baker. The exhibit will be unveiled on Friday, November 14th at 5 p.m., during downtown Coeur d’Alene’s vibrant ArtWalk celebration.

Mike Baker’s work represents a powerful intersection of art, technology, and advocacy. When Mike approached gallery owner Blair Williams nearly two years ago, the intention was initially unclear. But what unfolded was an astonishing collection of AI-generated portraits that challenge perceptions of art and its mediums. As Williams recounts, “I was completely caught off guard. I didn’t know what to think or feel—until I learned the story behind the works.”

Baker’s series emerged from personal and societal struggles—highlighting issues such as healthcare disparities and women’s resilience. Using AI as a reflective tool, Baker captures raw emotion and resilience, symbolizing that women, indeed, do not need permission to exist, lead, or be heard. His works serve as a call to action, emphasizing empathy, access, and recognition in a world that too often overlooks women’s stories.

Panelists include Blair Williams, artist Mike Baker, and Jen Jackson Quintano, Director of the Pro Voice Project, who will explore the significance of this groundbreaking work.

Artist Statement — Mike Baker, “No Permission Needed”:
This series is born from witness and experience—personal and collective. It challenges perceptions, embraces imperfection, and underscores that women do not need permission to fully exist and lead. Using AI, I aim to reflect the unapologetic strength, frustration, and resilience I see in my family, my patients, and women everywhere. These images speak to the power not of control, but of survival—because women never needed permission to begin with.

Join us at The Art Spirit Gallery for this inspiring exhibit and be part of a vital conversation about art’s role in social change.
