January 24, 2024 (Coeur d’Alene, ID) – The Art Spirit Gallery is proud to announce the first of their 2024 lineup of shows at Chalice Brewery, “Big & Bold Balazs” featuring works by Harold Balazs, will be on display beginning Friday, February 9th, 2024.
The evening will include the opening reception with great beers and live music.
Join us as we celebrate these four wonderful Big & Bold works by the one and only Harold Balazs. This show will run in conjunction with the exhibition “Leaving Marks” at the NW Museum of Arts & Culture in Spokane. The MAC exhibition celebrates thirty additions of Balazs works to the MAC’s permanent collection.
Balazs was born in 1928 in Westlake, Ohio - and passed away in 2017. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1951 from Washington State University. He worked as a self-employed artist ever since. He served three terms on the Washington State Arts Commission.
Balazs was an artistic pioneer who juxtaposed disparate ideas in an endless variety of forms. He merges nebulous shapes with geometric, often on scrap materials such as old washing machine lids, or end rolls of milk carton paper.
Balazs described his life’s work with these words: “I make stuff because it’s better than not making stuff.”
