EXHIBITION STATEMENT

This body of work refers to the often-overlooked space between all the stuff that makes up our lives.  It's the silence that envelops sound, the space between each breath we take, the shadow created by a tree.  It's the pause between a thought and an action, an experience and the memory of it, the pluck of a guitar string and the hum it makes, the distance between two people.

Everything appears to be separate from everything else, but, in truth, the seemingly empty space between is the connective tissue of life. More and more my experience seems to be one of continued movement from one thing to the next.  It is when I slow down and listen to the sound of space and my place in this world that I realize my life is right now.

The space between is where the magic of life happens.

"The gaps are the spirit's one home, the altitudes and latitudes so dazzlingly spare and clean, that the spirit can discover itself for the first time like a once-blind man unbound."

-- Annie Dillard
